Dr. Poologanathan is the principal family physician at the Rush Green Medical center, a medical practice with a registered patient population of 3500 currently. He joined as a general practitioner in 1991 in the UK and has experience in managing a healthcare team consisting of clinical and non-clinical staff in running a busy general practice. He has experience in General medicine, anesthetics and a special interest in minor surgery. Having been awarded the FRCS a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edin) in 1994. He pursues his interest in dermatological surgery and keeps it up to date. He does peer-reviewing for community-based medical educators for Barts & London School of Medicine and Dentistry.
He is involved in teaching medical students of local hospitals in UK as well as in Sri Lanka. His clinic is recognized for teaching in Pondicherry, India. He has placement services for doctors from abroad who are interested in acquiring further training from UK as a general physician. He is a licensed physician and an examiner in Australia.
His passion is for creating family medicine centres and training family physicians to provide holistic care to local communities and his love for his motherland brought him back to Sri Lanka during ceasefire period. He is the director of the institute of family medicine, Jaffna, Sri Lanka. He is well known for his academic skills, supporting many charities. He is one the advisors and has taken great interest in developing Balrampur Hospital Foundation Balrampur, UK for the welfare of the local community.
